Students watched a short video on the process of Silicone Plastination. This is the process which is used to preserve the real human cadavers and parts at the museum. We then went on a guided tour of all the various specimens. We saw the full human body as well as various different organs. Students were then given an opportunity to put together a plastic model of the human body with its organs.
They found the preserved fetuses and the brain specimens to be the most interesting.
This excursion was tied in to our lessons on the human body and functioning of various organ systems.
